READ-It Project meeting takes place in Kathmandu

Posted on: September 21, 2022

The Birat Nepal Medical trust was delighted to host an international meeting of the READ-It project in September 2022. The Research, Evidence and Development Initiative (READ-It), led by Prof Paul garner of LSTM, is an accountable grant funded by UK aid through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and runs from 2018 to 2024. READ-It builds upon the previous work of the UK aid-funded Effective Health Care Research Consortium (EHCRC).

As part of this project, a policy dialogue has now started in Kathmandu on whether routine Vitamin A supplementation is still justified for children in Nepal. This will involve a discussion and debate among policymakers and researchers to rethink the strategic options for the Vitamin A programme. This will be directed locally by Saki Thapa (pictured below), who is the Resource Mobilisation Manager at BNMT.
