Birat Nepal Medical Trust (BNMT) is a non-profit making Nepalese non-governmental organisation dedicated towards the improved health and wellbeing of Nepalese people. BNMT seeks competent, committed and result-oriented candidates for the following position:

Position: Senior Finance Officer (SFO)
Duty Station: Head Office, Kathmandu with frequent travel to project districts

Position summary:
The Senior Finance Officer (SFO) will be responsible for financial management of BNMT operations including grant management of various funding arrangements, ensuring the provision of adequate financial support to the organization’s operating programme, implementation and monitoring of financial control procedures, control of assets, compliance with the legal requirements and both statutory and management financial reporting etc. The position reports to the Finance Manager based in Head Office Kathmandu.

Key responsibilities:
• Effective budgetary and financial controls, including the monitoring of expenditures and the reporting and investigation of significant budget variances;
• Reconcile of the field office expenditure report with the grant reports and oversee any inconsistencies that may exist;
• Maintenance of flow of grant, as well as BNMT Nepal project expenditures information and sharing this with Finance Manager, as well as with concerned Programme Managers and program officers;
• Review of budgets, budget notes, justification, budget revisions and proposal to the Finance Manager;
• Actively participate in developing proposals for fundraising

Key competencies required:
• Masters’ Degree in Business Administration/Economics from a reputed university. A degree in Chartered Accountancy will be an added advantage.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience at the mid level position. Working experience in finance and grant management system in an I/NGO.
• Excellent computer skills including accounting software, navigating email, internet and MS Office Package
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.

Duration: Initially 1-year with the possibility of extension. First 3-months will be probationary period.

BNMT is partnering with the University of Liverpool, UK, and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK in research on the socioeconomic impacts of tuberculosis on Nepali people. The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for the execution of ‘Developing a locally-appropriate socioeconomic support package for TB-affected households in Nepal: Wellcome Trust funded Seed Research to inform the BEYOND-TB trial’ Project. BNMT invites applications from interested and qualified Nepali citizens as per following details:

Duty station:
Regional Office, Hetauda with frequent travel to the six project districts: Makawanpur, Chitwan, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Palpa and Nawalparasi.

Minimum Qualifications and Experiences:

  • PhD in relevant field or MPH or Masters Degree in health related field
  • At least 2 years working experience in a TB Program

Data Manager for IMPACT TB, Kathmandu, Nepal   –now closed

KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis (TB), the deadliest infectious disease in the world. KNCV is an international center of expertise for TB control that promotes effective, efficient, innovative and sustainable TB control strategies in a national and international context. We are an organization of passionate TB professionals, including doctors, researchers, training experts, nurses and epidemiologists. We aim to stop the worldwide epidemic of TB and to prevent the further spread of drug-resistant TB.

The IMPACT TB Project is funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 program and aims to assess the facilitators and barriers to scale-up two proven intervention for tuberculosis in Nepal and Vietnam. Two alternative strategies will be implemented in both countries and compared for their cost-effectiveness and potential impact on TB transmission. The project is executed by a consortium of different international and local partners, headed by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Within the consortium, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation has the responsibility to train local staff in data collection and management procedures and to monitor the data collection on-site for the full duration of the data collection period (2,5 years). KNCV has no local offices at the study sites. Therefore, the Nepal data manager will be seconded to the office of the local partner that collects the data for the study: Birat Nepal Medical Trust in Kathmandu. Part of the time, working from other locations will be needed, as data collection will be conducted in Dhanusha, Chitawan, Mahotari and Makawanpur.
